We aim to keep our work cross traditional and value all forms of Buddhism, firmly believing that Buddhism and other Asian traditions hold much of great value for our modern society.
We carry out various activities including lectures, conferences, and courses and have a substantial library of Buddhist Studies. Through these activities we wish to make the rich religious and philosophical resources of Asia available to all. We welcome all scholars, students, researchers and members of the public who wish to use the library or attend our activities.
IOP-UK is a branch of IOP Japan, which was established in 1962 by Daisaku Ikeda, President of SGI, a lay Buddhist group, and is situated at Taplow Court, the headquarters of SGI-UK
When the mind is controlled, it must be like the stone of the four orients: although this stone lies in the middle of the courtyard, the rain falls upon it but does not destroy it; the sun heats it but does not melt it; the wind blows yet cannot lift it. A mind under control resembles this stone.
